THE WOMEN WHO BUILT ATLANTIS

(sample chapter)

Some Thousands and Thousands of Years Ago

The procession was very sober. The silver faces of thousands of individuals joining the public meeting could hardly hide the prevalent anxiety and worry. The ritual, however, was to be treated with the traditional respect even if everything else was now different.

In the huge pyramidal hall, the throne sat in its usual place on a tall dais at the center. On that throne, the dynastic leader of the planet would meet the procession marking the defeat of the War Against God.

The light in the huge hall was still weak, but the light would increase in intensity finally becoming incandescent to herald the royal entrance of the Queen. The Queen’s presence would be heard, not seen. The royal invisibility harkened back before time itself. No RAAnian could remember a time when a queen was actually seen in flesh and blood.

The last dynasty was the longest in its history. The name of the dynasty was Atlanta. Tradition said that the face of the Queen could only be seen by the populace upon the coronation of a new dynastic royal. Only the Great Planet Council could look on the face of a queen. The power of the Council was great. The Council could change a dynasty if the incumbent queen could be proven too weak or incompetent.

Regardless of the dynastic name, the name of the RAAnian Queen was always: EA.

The Atlanta Dynasty was very special to RAA. It was the Atlanta Dynasty that had gained pride and strength for RAA. So great was RAA that it became and acted as powerful as God Himself, Creator and supporter of the unlimited Universe. This power had never been seen before. Never, in the eternal history of the Universe, had the population of a planet created by God raised itself against Him. Never, in that long history had God been compelled to fight back. Indeed, the Atlanta Dynasty was very special, and RAAnians were very proud to be led by this EA.

The light had turned to incandescence now. Low, sweet sounds descended from the angled ceiling. These were signs that the procession was about to begin. The steps of the Queen could be heard ascending the throne.

Silence ruled the planet. In cities, towns, and villages, RAAnians were all outdoors watching the memorable event on the darkened sky transformed now into a huge display screen. Though defeated, their superior technology remained intact.

The soft, warm voice of EA spoke to them:

“My dear people of RAA, my dearest sisters. I am speaking to you now in these hard moments of our existence on our beloved RAA. I have just returned, as you know, from meeting with our great Enemy, our Victor. After ten years of battle, we are defeated. We RAAnians are the only people to have challenged God. Only RAA dared to fight God for its independence. We have failed. Now we must obey His orders and His commands and His will!”

Hearing these last words of the Queen, the audience both inside and outside of the great Council Hall began to boo and shout their anger at God, the same God that the earliest RAAnians had worshipped with awe and served with joy. As their technology advanced, the RAAnians, under Atlanta rule, eventually concluded that they did not need God anymore. At first, God was an occasional inconvenience. Inconvenience turned to indifference and this indifference turned to hostility, precipitating war.

EA waited for her people to calm down. When the people settled down and the angry shouts were reduced to a low grumble, EA took up her speech again.

“We have lost. We are defeated. That is a fact. But we will always be known in the Universe as the only people able to fight and almost defeat God! We have earned, by the sacrifice of millions of our members, the respect of all creatures in the Universe. We have earned God’s respect as well! The armistice has been signed out of respect for our power. Be proud, RAAnians! Be proud of yourselves, dear sisters!”

The RAAnians arose as one from their seating spheres, hands raised to the sky. They then turned each to the other and bowed low with respect. Returning to their spheres, they placed their hands in their laps and looked up at EA of Atlanta.

“Now, “ said the Queen, “with the permission of our Great Council, I will detail the conditions of the armistice.”

At this announcement, all RAAnians froze. A chilling silence befell the planet. RAAnian leaned against RAAnian, each one shoulder to shoulder.

“I met with God on a small planet in another Solar System far from RAA. God called the planet: ‘Earth.’” EA paused and took a deep breath. Continuing she told her people. . .

“We met there on a rocky place surrounded by water. He called this place: ‘The Island.’ The atmosphere of this planet is similar to ours. This planet’s water is akin to ours. God was accompanied by seven of His Cohorts. The presence of His attendants gave us much honor. God did not feel comfortable meeting with us alone!”

At this, the RAAnians regarded the Throne with deep respect. This meeting was historic indeed. It was the first time that anybody from RAA, even a Queen, had met with God face to face. EA of Atlanta was obviously a great queen.
